We sincerely regret to inform our supporters that EwB’s ‘Triumphs & Laments’ event has been cancelled. Philip Miller has postponed his entire North American tour due to illness. If possible, we will relaunch the ‘Triumphs and Laments’ event in 2018.

Event: An Exploration of Arts, Culture and Music: Triumphs & Laments with Philip Miller
When: November 21, 7:00 pm
Where: The Norman and Annette Rothstein Theatre, 950 W 41st Avenue, Vancouver, BC

You’re invited to relive “Triumphs & Laments”, a unique multi-media presentation that blended music, art, puppetry, performance, and diverse cultural influence to inaugurate William Kentridge’s epic frieze on the Tiber River. Power-washed onto the river’s stone embankment, the frieze is hailed as Rome’s largest public artwork since Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel.

A video of the original production will be presented, exploring themes of exodus and exile, from ancient Roman history right up to the current refugee crisis and the displacement of people in the aftermath of wars all over the world. Following the presentation, the event composer, Phillip Miller, will discuss the dynamic and creative process behind “Triumphs and Laments”.

Cocktail reception to follow.
