One of the founders of
McMaster Medical School, Dr. Evans is an expert on International Health
issues. Stephen Lewis recently was the keynote speaker at the
John R Evans Lecture on International Health 2003, "AIDS/HIV
Pandemic: Taking Stock".
Dr Evans recently returned from a visit to South Africa.The following is his quote:
It's terrific
to learn of the initiative which you have taken over the years
to help Fezeka High School. When my wife and I were in South Africa
in January of this year we were made painfully aware of the rudimentary
facilities for education in the disadvantaged regions. At the
same time we were also struck by the spirit of the people operating
under impoverished circumstances. I have no doubt that your efforts
are directed at something extremely worthwhile.
