The South African Film Festival (SAFF) is a festival with a heart. It is a nonprofit event organized by volunteers, established to raise funds for Education without Borders (EwB).
The festivals are proud to present narrative films and documentaries that entertain and inform as they explore the culture, history and politics of South Africa. SAFF has been held in Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and the United States, with the first festival held in Vancouver in 2011. When the pandemic hit in 2020, EwB found a new way to continue presenting its iconic South African films to dedicated film lovers. EwB transitioned to an online model of the South African Film Festival that could reach audiences across Canada, Australia and New Zealand. In 2021, the festival expanded to the United States.
