Education without Borders needs caring and committed people who are available for short-term and longer-term commitments. A variety of volunteer opportunities are available throughout the year such as event planning, fundraising.
Volunteer Assistant Site Coordinator
The volunteer would be responsible for facilitating and managing ongoing and new projects at the schools. These projects could include, involvement in an after-school Mathematics/English/Science/Life Skills tutoring program, the organization and ongoing operation of a school library, and other projects as determined with EwB staff. Applicants should have prior travel, leadership and overseas work experience.
Applicants must also be mature, open-minded and flexible. An ability to be resourceful, take initiative and adapt to new situations is a requisite. Letters of reference are required.
Volunteer Teaching Assistant/
The volunteer would be expected to be involved in the after-school tutoring program where the primary focus is Grade 8-10 Mathematics/English/Science/Life Skills at Fezeka, and similar programming in Grades 1-7 at Mseki. The volunteer would also collaborate with other teaching staff and work within the schools in various capacities.
Applicants do not need to have a teaching degree but prior teaching experience is considered an asset. Applicants must also be mature, open minded and flexible. An ability to be resourceful, take initiative and adapt to new situations is a requisite. Letters of reference are required.
Volunteer Curriculum Development Advisor
The volunteer would assist our Curriculum Advisory Team with curriculum development, tutor training, evaluation, and other related initiatives. Applicants should be experienced teachers; employed or retired. Letters of reference are required.
