Education without Borders (EwB) partnered with Rising Tides to organize a Young Filmmakers course for EwB learners, tutors and site coordinators in South Africa. The initiative aimed to equip participants with essential technology, philosophy, and skills in documentary filmmaking.
The program offered a combination of visual tutorials and in-person workshops, where eager learners had the opportunity to practice their newfound skills using smartphone cameras. Participants learned about lighting, audio, how to conduct interviews, capture b-roll and verité footage, as well as video editing.
At the end of the course, Rising Tides generously donated technology kits, ensuring the sustainability of the program and enabling the organization to continue training more aspiring filmmakers to produce quality pictures and videos. These kits included a hard case, handheld tripod, wireless microphone set, power bank, cables and a smart phone with access to a shared cloud drive.
