Ruth and Cecil Hershler, Founders of Education without Borders (EwB) were listed among nine Heroes of Progress 2022 awarded by ESET this month. The list of Heroes includes visionaries from sectors as diverse as agriculture, healthcare, and sustainability awarded for their progressive use of technology work.
Through Ruth and Cecil’s work with EwB, the pair have utilised and further enhanced an existing School in a Box program that provides students from lower-income households with the technology they need to change their future, giving them access to more opportunities. With generous donations from the ESET South Africa in Cape Town and from Australian donors in 2021, EwB now has 10 School in a Box systems covering all sites. In addition to its School in a Box program, EwB has also recently expanded offerings into peer tutoring and mentoring.
